In addition to the morning and afternoon snacks, which are prepared daily and served on an as-desired basis, the Toddler and Early Childhood classrooms offer Food Preparation activities as part of the Practical Life area. Children have the option to select any of these activities, which not only teach them about sequencing, order, and skillful use of utensils but offer children the opportunity to taste a variety of foods and eat more often if needed. Examples of such Food Preparation activities include but are not limited to: peeling and slicing bananas, carrots or apples; spreading cream cheese, soy butter or hummus on crackers; squeezing orange juice, making herbal tea, stuffing celery, slicing pickles or eggs and baking.
