Our Curriculum

WMS offers programs for students from Toddler through High School, providing a unique opportunity to continue a Montessori education all the way through 12th grade.

Since spring 2006, WMS has been jointly accredited by the American Montessori Society (AMS) and the Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS). It is the only school in the Pacific Northwest accredited by both AMS and NWAIS through 12th grade.

Our program levels feature mixed-age classrooms—an essential component of Montessori education—where students learn from peers and develop leadership skills. Each program emphasizes strong academics, social-emotional growth, environmental stewardship, and care for self, others, and the world around them.

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) is integrated across all program levels. In Early Childhood, classrooms include STEM materials, while older students engage in student-driven projects using resources in both their classrooms and the Innovation & Design Lab (ID Lab). The ID Lab is designed to spark creativity and teach practical skills, including laser cutting and 3D printing with programs like CorelDRAW and Adobe Illustrator. Middle and High School students also use the lab for electives such as building geodesic domes, marine robotics, and Bluetooth speakers.

The Montessori Spiral Curriculum: A Visual Journey Through the Montessori Learning Progression

Ever wonder how Montessori learning grows with the child?🌳 The Montessori Spiral Curriculum display brings Montessori to life, showcasing how carefully designed materials support learning from Toddler through High School, building knowledge in intentional, developmentally appropriate ways. Each level lays the foundation for the next, helping students grow from hands‑on learners into confident, independent thinkers ready for what’s ahead.
