    Congressional Art Competition Award

    • From High School student Shriya:

My artwork was awarded the Judge’s Choice Award, at the Congressional Art Competition. It was an amazing experience, meeting the judges, Congresswoman Susan DelBene, and most of all, seeing the outstanding 90+ submissions by fellow artists from Washington. The creativity shown through their art was incredibly inspiring through their choice of mediums, passion shown and the unique stories conveyed. I was especially inspired by an artist who used CDs to create an incredibly detailed, work of art, portraying a family.
Additionally, I was able to share the story behind my art to the panel of judges, Congresswoman DelBene, and allow them to gain a deeper understanding of the perspective it was created from. We also discussed the importance of art, and the scope of art and how it can connect us, and allow us to keep exploring our potential.
