WMS Senior Named National Merit Semifinalist

Woodinville Montessori School is proud to announce that senior Andy has been named a National Merit Scholarship Program Semifinalist, one of the most prestigious academic honors for high school students in the United States.

Andy is among more than 16,000 semifinalists nationwide recognized in the 72nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These students were selected from more than 1.2 million juniors who entered the competition by taking the 2025 PSAT/NMSQT and represent less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. 

As a semifinalist, Andy now has the opportunity to continue in the competition for approximately 6,700 National Merit Scholarships, worth about $24 million, that will be awarded in spring 2027. To advance to Finalist standing, semifinalists must demonstrate continued academic excellence, receive a school recommendation, submit a detailed application, write an essay, and earn qualifying SAT or ACT scores. 

The National Merit Scholarship Program, established in 1955, recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
