WMS Community Workshop | Supporting Your Child's Mental Health

Bothell Campus, Green Bldg. - Community Room

As part of our commitment to parent education and partnership, WMS faculty and staff offer complimentary workshops throughout the school year. These engaging sessions help families better understand Montessori education, support their child's growth and development, and connect with fellow members of the WMS community. We encourage all families to take advantage of these enriching learning opportunities.

Please join us after morning carline from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14, in the Green Building Community Room for a conversation about supporting children's mental health.

The audience for this event is parents of kindergarteners through twelfth graders. All WMS families are invited to attend. This is a parents-only event, and it will not be recorded. Please register to attend here.

Workshop presenters are our WMS mental health counselors, Emily Murray, LICSW, and Megan Wanless, MA, LMFT, and Lower Elementary teacher Amy Fujimoto, M.Ed. Megan and Emily will be co-presenting about the critical importance of mental health and will share definitions, warning signs, and resources. Amy will then share an expressive arts activity to show how art can be used to positively support mental health.

Looking for a creative way to connect with the WMS community? Join WMS teacher Amy Fujimoto in our new Expressive Arts Studio for free monthly gatherings designed to inspire imagination, self-expression, and meaningful connection through visual arts, music, movement, and writing. Rooted in the Montessori philosophy and WMS's commitment to nurturing creative, conscientious individuals, the Expressive Arts Studio provides a welcoming environment to explore different forms of artistic expression. As one student shared, "Expressive Arts is all about feelings." Parents have also found the experience valuable, noting that it offers tools that support the well-being and connection of the whole family.

Free to attend; RSVP encouraged; drop-ins welcome. This is an adults-only event. We hope you'll join Amy and fellow WMS community members as we explore, create, and grow together through the arts!
