EMERGENCY CLOSURE-SNOW, ICE, ETC.

If you would like email notification of school closures please sign up at http://www.schoolreport.org as soon as possible.  This how we notify the media when we are closed, and if you sign up with them you will be notified at the same time the media is notified. CAUTION:  The ability for parents to sign up for this is closed whenever there is an impending storm.  The organization serves all schools in the area and during emergencies, when vast numbers of people are checking or updating school information, the sudden demand crashes their network.  They manage this by closing down the ability for new people to sign up. Sign up today and you will be all set for the year.  This is greatly eases your ability to stay informed except in conditions when there are widespread power failures (see below).

In general, we are normally always open if Northshore public schools are open.  If Northshore schools are closed, do not assume that we are also closed, we are often open when Nothshore schools are not.  Call the school after 6:15am to hear the message on voice mail; it may be necessary to call both campuses.  Our call to schoolreport.org is made around 6:00am.

In conditions of snowy and icy roads we often open late to give road crews more time to clear things, and to allow our staff a longer period to get to work.  Late opening will also be announced to television, radio and on the school voice mail.  Conditions will vary widely from neighborhood to neighborhood, as does driving skill in the snow.  You should always use your own judgment about whether to come to school when road conditions in your own area are bad.  Student absences during these events are considered excused.

No Electricity

In cases of widespread power outages you won’t have access to the web, email, etc. and we may experience more difficulty posting notice for the same reason.  The phone system at North Creek is internet based and the battery back-up doesn’t last indefinitely.  In this situation the easiest way to get information is to call the Woodinville campus voice mail at 425-481-2300 after 6:00am.  In cases of extended emergency the decision to open or close can sometimes be made the night before but more typically we have to wait until 4:00 or 5:00am to see what conditions are.
