Thank you to the dedicated Auction Committee and all their volunteers for planning and executing such a fantastic event on Saturday night! And thanks to everyone - WMS families, staff, Board, alumni, grandparents and friends - for raising your paddle to put a lobster in the pond.
A record-breaking 220 parents, grandparents, alumni and friends of WMS attended this year’s fabulous gala and auction on March 24th at the Lynnwood Convention Center. More than 80 volunteers worked hard to create a World’s Fair-themed night filled with fun, friendship and fundraising. Guests began the evening with complimentary champagne, an Herb Farm Raffle, free photos at Emerald City Productions’ photo booth, the Board of Trustees Wine Wall, and a Spin the Wheel Game as they previewed silent auction items. The silent auction offered an abundance and variety of items, as well as unique teacher-time experiences, with something for every interest, taste and budget. A special thank you to everyone who contributed to the procurement effort this year!
After the closing of the silent auction, guests moved into the glamorously decorated dining hall for a wonderful dinner and live auction led by parent Jim Broadbent, our very own Master of Ceremonies. The fun and entertaining auctioneer led bidders through several rounds of high-energy and fun-spirited competitive bidding. During the live auction, diners participated in the Dessert Frenzy, bid on class art projects, vacations, boat trips, and many more spectacular items that were generously donated.
Mid-way through the evening, after an entertaining video featuring the now-familiar “Lobster in the Pond” rap, attendees were asked to raise their paddles to raise funds to create a beautiful outdoor environment to complement our new space. Thank you to everyone who recognized the importance of lending their financial support to this mission. With your generosity, we were able to raise $46,500 to put a lobster in the pond! Overall, the auction raised an impressive $117,550 before matching funds. Our students will benefit from your giving for many years to come.
A big thank you to all who were able to attend, donate, and volunteer!!
