Family Alliance committees

Communications Committeesiteidstackedcombined-150x150

Communications Committee members relay information about Family Alliance and school events to parents. We work closely with the school’s Director of Communications. The committee chair also serves as Family Alliance secretary. The committee updates and displays reminders on the school whiteboards at each campus, coordinates Family Alliance articles for The Grapevine newsletter and may create flyers on specific Family Alliance events.

If you like communicating and enjoy writing, then the Communications Committee is the place for you. Volunteer opportunities occur throughout the year and start at one hour per month or more, depending on your availability and interests.

Gala Committee

The Gala Committee hosts the school’s annual fundraising event—generally an auction and dinner in the spring—to raise money for enrichment materials in the classroom, special field trip and classroom opportunities, teacher and staff training and myriad special projects that directly benefit the students of Woodinville Montessori School.

Gala roles are: event planning, procurement and auction administration. Two volunteer gala Co-Chairs head the Event Planning Subcommittee, one leads the Procurement Subcommittee and tandem coordinators serve as Auction Administration.

Volunteer opportunities occur throughout the year and start at one hour per month or more, depending on your availability and interests.

Parent Ambassador Committee

Parent Ambassadors welcome new families to the school, answer questions and provide information. Ambassadors also help increase awareness, and promote goodwill about WMS in our community.

Room Parent Committee

Room Parents help support the teachers and students in their respective classrooms, and serve as the classroom liaison between teachers and volunteers. They help organize volunteers for social events, for auction art projects, for field trips or for extra help in the classroom. All classroom volunteers must complete volunteer training and pass a complete background check.

Social Committee

The Social Committee builds a sense of community and community involvement through fun social activities for our students and their families. The committee organizes at least one all-school social event and the end-of-year all-school picnic. The important all-school potluck picnic, usually held at Cottage Lake Park in Woodinville, brings together students and families outside the school environment. Other all-school events include the Gingerbread Brunch and the Art of Fall festival.
Volunteer opportunities occur throughout the year and start at one hour per month or more, depending on your availability and interests.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation (TSA) Committee

The Teacher/Staff Appreciation Committee parent volunteers employ their unique talents, ideas and resources to demonstrate staff appreciation. They provide treats, snacks and imaginatively festive light luncheons. Volunteer opportunities occur throughout the year and start at one hour per month or more, depending on your availability and interests.

Volunteer Coordination Committee

The Volunteer Coordination Committee serves as the liaison between parent volunteers and the Family Alliance, and facilitates a variety of volunteer tasks all year long. The committee distributes data from the Parent Participation Forms (PPF) to the various Family Alliance committees, connecting parent volunteers with FA committees, establishing a “Family Alliance lifeline” to support WMS families, teachers and staff in crisis and helping recruit for open Family Alliance positions. Volunteer opportunities occur throughout the year and start at one hour per month or more, depending on your availability and interests.
